A method and apparatus for detecting and handling a short circuit in a circuit having a plurality of power semiconductors connected in series. The method comprising the steps of dividing the voltage across the electrodes of each power semiconductor and measuring the magnitude of a small proportion of the voltage. The magnitude of the voltage is compared to a reference voltage at least from when the power semiconductor is turned on. The reference voltage is higher than the maximum voltage across the power semiconductor during normal operation. A short circuit is detected when the magnitude of the measured voltage exceeds the reference voltage.
Méthode et appareil pour détecter et traiter un court-circuit dans un circuit comportant une pluralité de semiconducteurs de puissance connectés en série. La méthode comprend les étapes de la division de tension aux électrodes de chaque semiconducteur de puissance et de mesure de l'amplitude d'une faible proportion de la tension. L'amplitude de la tension est comparée à une tension de référence au moins à partir du moment où le semiconducteur de puissance est activé. Le tension de référence est plus élevée que la tension maximale mesurée au semiconducteur de puissance durant le fonctionnement normal. Un court-circuit est détecté lorsque l'amplitude de la tension mesurée dépasse celle de la tension de référence.
