The invention relates to the field of monitoring the hydration and/or nutrition status of a patient. According to the invention a method is provided to determine at least one of a mal-hydration component, an adipose tissue component and a lean tissue component of a patient comprising the steps of determining chemical or physical properties of the patient and deriving the at least one component on the basis of the determined chemical or physical properties of the patient and previously determined values of a mass or volume fraction of water in lean tissue and a mass or volume fraction of water in adipose tissue. The invention also relates to a device for carrying out the method according to the invention and to a computer program product to be used on such a device.

L'invention concerne la surveillance de l'état d'hydratation et/ou nutrition d'un patient. Selon l'invention, un procédé permet de déterminer au moins un composant d'une mauvaise hydratation, un composant de tissu adipeux et un composant de tissu maigre d'un patient et comprend les étapes consistant à déterminer des propriétés chimiques ou physiques du patient et à dériver le composant en fonction des propriétés chimiques ou physiques du patient et des valeurs déterminées précédemment d'une fraction de masse ou volume d'eau dans le tissu maigre et une fraction de masse ou volume d'eau dans le tissu adipeux. L'invention concerne également un dispositif permettant de mettre en oeuvre le procédé selon l'invention et un produit de programme informatique à utiliser sur un tel dispositif.
