A method and a device for driving by means of simultaneously striking and vibration of an element that is in contact with or surrounded by a material mass, particularly a stratum of earth, the element either comprising a stamping plate that is in surface contact with the material mass in order to compact said material, or comprising an elongate object such as a pile or a tongue or a packing implement, which shall be driven into or taken out of the material mass. An energy source, e.g. a striking hammer or a vibrator, is caused to directly or indirectly apply impulses to the stamping plate in order to drive this towards or away from the material mass. The vibrating device is adjustable to the desired oscillation frequency which may be in the vicinity of the natural frequency for a system, defined by the element, the area of the material mass engaged by the element, and the vibrating device. In the case of driving an elongate element into the material mass the resonance frequency may be lowered in relation to the natural frequency for compacting the material mass around the elongate element in the final stage of driving in the elongate element, or an overtone thereof.
L'invention concerne un procédé et un dispositif permettant de commander un élément simultanément par damage et vibrations, cet élément étant en contact avec ou entouré d'une masse de matière, notamment d'une strate de terre. Cet élément comprend soit une plaque de damage qui est en contact surfacique avec la masse de matière aux fins de compactage de cette matière, soit un objet allongé tel qu'un pieu, une languette ou un élément de compactage que l'on introduit dans ou retire de la masse de matière. Une source d'énergie, notamment un pilon ou un vibrateur, permet d'appliquer, directement ou indirectement, des impulsions à la plaque de damage pour la rapprocher ou l'éloigner de la masse de matière. Le dispositif vibrateur peut être réglé à la fréquence d'oscillation souhaitée qui peut être proche de la fréquence propre d'un système défini par l'élément, la zone de la masse de matière sollicitée par l'élément et le dispositif vibrateur. En cas de commande d'un élément allongé dans la masse de matière, la fréquence de résonance peut être abaissée par rapport à la fréquence propre destinée au compactage de la masse de matière tout autour de l'élément allongé dans la phase finale de la commande de l'enfoncement de l'élément allongé ou par rapport à une onde harmonique de celle-ci.
