A method and an apparatus for the treatment of either endo-cavital infections or abnormal surface tissue conditions, particularly destructive bacterial infections, post major invasive surgery abscesses and skin infections such as vitiligo and psoriasis. If required, a catheter system is used, which allows the simultaneous drainage of an infected locus and irradiation of the infected locus with laser-generated pulsed ultraviolet light. The laser light wavelength is chosen so as to require radiation, which is lethal to the microorganisms causing the infection, at the lowest possible dose which will provide ameliorative therapty. Alternatively, a diode-pumped solid state Raman laser device is used which can be configured to provide in sequence a selected number of output wavelengths in the ultraviolet spectral range.

L'invention porte sur un procédé et sur un appareil de traitement des infections endocavitaires ou d'états anormaux de tissus superficiels, notamment des infections bactériennes destructives, des abcès après une chirurgie invasive majeure et des infections de la peau telles que le vitiligo et le psoriasis. Si besoin, on utilise un système de cathéter qui permet le drainage simultané d'un locus infecté et l'irradiation du locus infecté par une lumière ultraviolette pulsée par laser. La longueur d'onde lumineuse laser est choisie de façon à obtenir un rayonnement qui est mortel pour les micro-organismes provoquant l'infection, à une dose la plus faible possible qui donnera lieu à une meilleure thérapie. En variante, un dispositif laser Raman à semi-conducteurs pompé par des diodes est utilisé et configuré de façon à générer en séquence un nombre sélectionné de longueurs d'ondes d'émission dans la plage spectrale ultraviolette.
