Liquid containing organic waste material and chemicals are continually introduced into the upper part of a vertical, cylindrical treatment chamber. While sinking through the chamber the material is beaten of fast rotating treating devices which also mix the material. The treating devices also move in axial direction to free damp and gases from the material. Damp and gases are removed from the top of the chamber.
