An analogue mobile telesystem has traffic channel cells (C1), each of which includes a base station (A-G). These base stations handle combined control channels (PAC) for paging a mobile station (MS), and also access channels (AC) for establishing connections to or from the mobile station (MS). The mobile station has information concerning the frequencies of all of the access channels and the connections are established on duplex traffic channels (TC). The geographical area covered by respective traffic channel cells (C1) is determined by virtue of enabling all traffic channels (TC) within this area to be used for predetermined, common purposes. Each of the traffic channel cells (C1) has at least two access channels (PAC, AC) spaced apart at a desired frequency distance and having the same radio coverage as the traffic channels (TC). When desiring access, the mobile station (MS) scans the strength or power of all access channels on two separate occasions at a mutual spacing of 20 milliseconds. The duplex access channels (PAC, AC) assist the mobile station (MS) in finding the strongest access channel (PAC, AC) despite heavy fading. The mobile station (MS) thereby establishes a connection on the traffic channel (TC) in the most suitable cell (C1) having the highest signal strength. Unnecessary handoffs are avoided and speech quality is improved.

Un réseau téléphonique mobile analogique comporte des cellules à voies de conversation (C1), dont chacune comprend une station de base (A-G). Ces stations de base procurent des voies de commande associées (PAC) pour rechercher une station mobile (MS), et également des voies d'accès (AC) pour établir des connexions à destination ou en provenance de la station mobile (MS). Cette station mobile possède des informations concernant les fréquences de toutes les voies d'accès et les connexions sont établies sur des voies de conversation duplex (TC). La zone géographique couverte par les cellules à voies de conversation (C1) respectives est déterminées par l'utilisation, à des fins communes prédéterminées, de toute les voies de conversation (TC) au sein de cette zone. Chacune des cellules à voies de conversation (C1) dispose d'au moins deux voies d'accès (PAC, AC) espacées d'un intervalle de fréquence souhaité et possédant la même couverture radio que les voies de conversation (TC). Lorsqu'un accès est souhaité, la station mobile (MS) analyse la puissance de toutes les voies d'accès à deux reprises avec un intervalle de 20 millisecondes. Les voies d'accès duplex (PAC, AC) aident la station mobile (MS) à trouver la voie d'accès (PAC, AC) la plus puissante en dépit d'un évanouissement profond. La station mobile (MS) établit ainsi une connexion sur la voie de conversation (TC) dans la cellule (C1) la plus appropriée possédant la plus forte intensité du signal. Des transferts inutiles sont évités et la qualité de transmission téléphonique est améliorée.
