Method and device for operating electronic ballasts for High Intensity Discharge lamps (4), the ballasts having a driver (MGD), two power switches (PS1, PS2), an LC series circuit (L, C1, C2), a driver controller (6), a current sensor (8), and a power sensor (10), the method including (a) generating pulses of frequency f1 for a time t1, equal to n/f1, where f1 equals the LC resonance frequency; (b) monitoring the existence of current and (c) monitoring the current in the lamp circuit, and proceeding to (h) upon determining that there is no current in the lamp circuit, (d) continuing pulse generation for a time t2; (e) switching the frequency f2, at which a set power is reached; (f) monitoring and stabilizing the lamp power by modifying f2, and proceeding to (h) when the set power is exceeded; (g) monitoring current and power according to (c) and (f); (h) inhibiting pulse generation for a time approximately equal t2/k; (i) proceeding to (a) until t2 has elapsed; and (j) inhibiting pulse generation until power is switched off and on.
Cette invention a trait à une technique et au dispositif correspondant permettant d'exploiter des ballasts électroniques pour lampes à décharge à grande intensité (HID) (4), ces ballasts étant pourvus d'un étage d'attaque (MGD), de deux commutateurs d'alimentation (PS1, PS2), d'un circuit résonant LC monté en série (L, C1, C2), d'une unité de commande d'étage d'attaque (6), d'un ampèremètre (8) et d'un capteur de puissance (10). La technique consiste, (a), à produire des impulsion de fréquence fl pendant un laps de temps tl égal à n/fl, la valeur de fl étant égale à la fréquence de résonance de LC, (b), à vérifier la présence d'un courant et, (c), à vérifier la présence du courant dans le circuit de la lampe, à poursuivre jusqu'à l'étape (h) si une absence de courant a été constatée dans le circuit de la lampe, (d), à continuer à produire des impulsions pendant un laps de temps t2, (e), à basculer sur une fréquence f2, à laquelle une puissance de consigne est atteinte, (f), à contrôler la puissance de la lampe et à stabiliser cette puissance en modifiant la valeur de f2, (g), à vérifier le courant et la puissance en se fondant sur (c) et (f), à cesser de produire des impulsions pendant un laps de temps approximativement égal à t2/k, (i), à poursuivre jusqu'à l'étape (a) jusqu'à ce que le temps t2 soit écoulé et, (j), à cesser la production d'impulsions jusqu'à la mise hors circuit et en circuit de l'alimentation.
