A method is disclosed for transferring data via a USB interface. A workstation is provided having an interface therein supporting a first set of known commands. A USB device is provided for interfacing with the interface and supporting a second set of known commands, the second set including some commands absent from the first set of commands. A first command is provided from the second set of commands and absent from the first set of commands for execution on the USB device. The first command is provided on the workstation. The first command is encapsulated within data associated with a second other command, the second other command within the first set of commands. The first command is encapsulated within the data for extraction thereof. The second other command and the data associated with a second other command are transmitted to the USB device via the interface. Once received, the first command is extracted from the second other command and the first command is executed on the USB device.

L'invention concerne un procédé permettant de transférer des données via une interface USB. Une station de travail comprenant une interface qui supporte un premier ensemble de commandes connues est prévue. Un dispositif USB est prévu afin d'établir une interface avec l'interface précitée et de supporter un second ensemble de commandes connues, ce second ensemble comprenant certaines commandes absentes du premier ensemble de commandes connues. Une première commande à exécuter sur le dispositif USB est prévue dans le second ensemble de commandes et est absente du premier ensemble de commandes. La première commande est installée sur la station de travail et est encapsulée à l'intérieur de données associées à une seconde autre commande, cette seconde autre commande se trouvant à l'intérieur du premier ensemble de commandes. La première commande est encapsulée à l'intérieur de données afin d'être extraite. La seconde autre commande et les données associées à cette commande sont transmises au dispositif USB via l'interface. Une fois reçue, la première commande est extraite de la seconde autre commande, la première commande étant executée sur le dispositif USB.
