A method for effecting control over a radially stratified flame core burner (22) of the type installed in a fossil fuel-fired furnace compris- ing the steps of: a) determining the depth of the furnace in which the ra- dially stratified flame core burner is installed; b) establishing the permis- sible length of the flame that the radi- ally stratified flame core burner is ca- pable of producing as a function of the depth of the fossil fuel-fired furnace in which the radially stratified furnace is installed; c) establishing an outer zone (24) of air flow as a consequence of the injection thereinto of a first por- tion of the total amount of air required to effect the combustion of the fos- sil fuel being burned through oper- ation of the radially stratified flame core burner; d) establishing an inner zone (26) of air flow and fossil fuel as a consequence of the injection there- into of a second portion of the total amount of air required to effect the combustion of the fossil fuel being burned through operation of the radially stratified flame core burner and as a consequence of the injec- tion thereinto of the fossil fuel being burned through operation of the radially stratified flame core burner; and e) effecting control over the length of the flame produced by the radially stratified flame core burner by controlling the angular momentum of the air injected into the inner zone and by controlling the angle of injection of the fossil fuel injected into the inner zone so that the length of the flame produced by the radially stratified flame core burner is no greater than the permissible length of the flame that has been established for the fossil fuel-fired furnace in which the radially stratified flame core burner is installed.
L'invention concerne un procédé permettant de commander un brûleur à coeur de flamme stratifié radialement (22) du type installé dans un foyer chauffé par combustible fossile, le procédé comprend les étapes suivantes: a) déterminer la profondeur du foyer dans lequel le brûleur à four stratifié radialement est installé; b) déterminer la longueur admissible de la flamme que le brûleur à coeur de flamme stratifié radialement est capable de produire, compte tenu de la profondeur du foyer chauffé par combustible fossile dans lequel le brûleur à coeur de flamme stratifié radialement est installé; c) délimiter une zone extérieure (24) d'écoulement d'air résultant de l'injection dans ladite zone d'une première partie du volume total d'air nécessaire pour réaliser la combustion du combustible fossile en train d'être brûlé par le brûleur à coeur de flamme stratifié radialement; d) délimiter une zone intérieure (26) d'écoulement d'air et de combustible fossile résultant, d'une part, de l'injection dans ladite zone d'une deuxième partie du volume total d'air nécessaire pour réaliser la combustion du combustible fossile en train d'être brûlé par le brûleur à coeur de flamme stratifié radialement et, d'autre part, de l'injection dans ladite zone du combustible fossile en train d'être brûlé par le brûleur à coeur de flamme stratifié radialement; et e) maîtriser la longueur de la flamme produite par le brûleur à coeur de flamme stratifié radialement en commandant, d'une part, le moment angulaire de l'air injecté dans la zone intérieure et, d'autre part, l'angle d'injection du combustible fossile injecté dans la zone intérieure, de sorte que la longueur de la flamme produite par le brûleur à coeur de flamme stratifié radialement ne soit pas supérieure à la longueur admissible de la flamme établie pour le foyer chauffé par combustible fossile, dans lequel le brûleur à coeur de flamme stratifié radialement est installé.
