The present invention provides a method of manufacturing a last (10) for a first article of footwear. The last (10) comprises a cast shaped and dimensioned to customise, in use, one end of the first article of footwear for one end of an individual's foot; and an end piece adapted to engage, in use, the opposite end of the first article of footwear. The method comprises the steps of customising the cast for said one end of the individual's foot; and fixing the cast to the end piece. Preferably, the cast is formed from the internal surface of one end of a second article of footwear which, for example, has been pre-shaped by the individual's foot through wear.
Le procédé décrit consiste à fabriquer un embauchoir (10) pour un premier article chaussant. L'embauchoir (10) comprend un moule dont la forme et la dimension sont personnalisées de telle sorte qu'une extrémité du premier article chaussant s'ajuste parfaitement à l'usage à une extrémité du pied d'un individu; et une pièce d'extrémité adaptée pour engager, à l'usage, l'extrémité opposée du premier article chaussant. Le procédé consiste à personnaliser le moule pour ladite extrémité du pied de l'extrémité de l'individu et à fixer le moule à la pièce d'extrémité. De préférence, le moule est formé à partir de la surface interne d'une extrémité d'un second article chaussant, qui a été préformée, par exemple, en étant porté par le pied de l'individu.
