A method of plastically forming an axially extended zone of the interior surface of a hollow glass tube comprising heating the zone to a forming temperature; bringing the hollow glass tube and a generally cylindrical embossing mandrel connected to a driving shaft together to obtain a predetermined starting position inside said glass tube, bringing the embossing mandrel and the interior surface of the glass into contact along said zone while keeping the longitudinal axes of the mandrel and the glass tube essentially parallel, providing a relative rolling off motion between the said mandrel and the said tube while plastically forming said zone of the glass tube and finally separating the formed glass tube and the embossing mandrel. Also disclosed are glass cartridges made with the method and embossing mandrels to be used in the method.
Procédé de façonnage plastique d'un segment en prolongement axial de la surface interne d'un tube de verre creux, qui consiste à chauffer le segment à une température autorisant le façonnage, à réunir le tube de verre creux et un mandrin de profilage de forme généralement cylindrique relié à un arbre de commande pour obtenir une position de départ prédéterminée à l'intérieur du tube de verre, à mettre en contact le mandrin de profilage et la surface interne du verre le long dudit segment tout en maintenant les axes longitudinaux du mandrin et le tube de verre en position pratiquement parallèle, à permettre un décrochement relatif entre le mandrin et le tube de verre tout en réalisant le façonnage plastique du segment du tube et finalement à séparer le tube de verre façonné et le mandrin de profilage. L'invention se rapporte également aux cartouches de verre fabriquées selon ce procédé et aux mandrins de profilage utilisés dans le procédé.
