A pharmaceutical composition for the treatment of leukemia in mammals is disclosed. The particular fungicide used is a benzimidazole derivative of formula (I) wherein X is hydrogen, halogen, alkyl of less than 7 carbon atoms or alkoxy of less than 7 carbon atoms; n is a positive integer of less than 4; Y is hydrogen, chlorine, nitro, methyl or ethyl; and R is hydrogen or an alkyl group having from 1 to 8 carbon atoms, and R2 is 4-thiazolyl or NHCOOR1 wherein R1 is aliphatic hydrocarbon of less than 7 carbon atoms or the pharmaceutically acceptable inorganic or acid addition salts thereof. A pharmaceutical composition that inhibits the growth of tumors and cancers in mammals and can be used to treat viral infections that comprises a fungicide in combination with chemotherapeutic agents is disclosed. The particular fungicide used is a benzimidazole derivative. Potentiators can also be included in the composition.
L'invention concerne une composition pharmaceutique pour le traitement de la leucémie chez les mammifères. Le fongicide particulier utilisé est un dérivé benzimidazole de la formule (I). Dans cette formule, X est un hydrogène, un halogène, un alkyle ou un alcoxy ayant moins de 7 atomes de carbone; n est un nombre entier positif inférieur à 4; Y est un hydrogène, un chlore, un nitro, un méthyle ou un éthyle; R est un hydrogène ou un groupe alkyle ayant de 1 à 8 atomes de carbone et R¿2? est un 4-thiazolyle ou un groupe NHCOOR¿1? où R¿1? est un hydrocarbure aliphatique ayant moins de 7 atomes de carbone. L'invention concerne en outre les sels d'addition de ces composés acceptables sur le plan pharmaceutique et obtenus avec des acides organiques ou inorganiques. L'invention concerne aussi une composition pharmaceutique, contenant un fongicide en association avec des agents chimiothérapeutiques, pour inhiber le développement de tumeurs et de cancers chez les mammifères ou pour traiter des infections virales. Le fongicide particulier utilisé et un dérivé benzimidazole. On peut aussi inclure des agents de potentialisation à la composition.
