A pleasant fragrance is imparted to the stabilization of a halogen-containing polymer by the use of an organotin mercaptoalkyl heptanoate, and, optionally, up to about 50%, on an equivalents basis, of a sulfide thereof as the stabilizer. A mixture of the heptanoate with up to about 80% by weight of the mixture of a second carboxylate having from 8 to 20 carbon atoms in the carboxylate moiety may be used in place of the heptanoate.
