A method for creating pattern instructions for an electronic patterning control of a knitting machine to enable the knitting machine to knit fabric having a desired pictorial image as part of the knitted structure, the pictorial image being created by a series of consecutive courses each having knitted stitches formed of a first yarn having a first visual characteristic interspersed with knitted stitches formed of a second yarn having a second visual characteristic, adjacent knitted stitches of the second yarn that are separated by one or more knitted stitches of the first yarn being connected by a float loop spanning said one or more knitted stitches of the first yarn.

Cette invention concerne un procédé de création d'instructions de dessin pour une commande de reproduction de dessin électronique d'une machine à tricoter permettant à ladite machine à tricoter de tricoter un tissu présentant l'image picturale souhaitée intégrée à la structure tricotée, ladite image picturale étant créée par une série de rangées consécutives comportant chacune des points tricotés formés d'un premier fil présentant une première caractéristique visuelle intercalés avec des points tricotés formés d'un deuxième fil présentant une deuxième caractéristique visuelle, les points tricotés adjacents du deuxième fil qui sont séparés par un ou plusieurs points tricotés du premier fil étant reliés par un flotté resserrant un ou plusieurs points tricotés du premier fil.
