A device for protecting an electronic converter, e.g.for halogen lamps, includes a comparator (10) having an output (Vo) as well as non-inverting (14) and inverting (12) inputs for receiving a first input signal (Vi(P)) indicative of the load applied to the converter and a second input signal (Vref(T~)) indicative of the temperature of the converter. The comparator (10) is in a non-inverting Schmitt-trigger configuration having an input-output characteristic with hysteresis. Consequently, the output (Vo) is switched from a first value (Vo1) to a second value (Voh) to switch off the electronic converter as the first input signal (Vi(P)) exceeds a first threshold value (VT1). The output (Vo) is switched back from the second value (Voh) to the first value (Vo1) to restart the electronic converter when the first input signal (Vi(P)) falls below a second threshold value (VT2). The second threshold value (VT2) is lower than the first threshold value (VT1), and both threshold values (VT1, VT2) are a function of the signal (Vref(T~)) indicative of the temperature of the converter. The converter is thus protected against both current overloads and temperature overloads.
L~invention concerne un dispositif de protection d~un convertisseur électronique, notamment pour des lampes à halogène, comportant : un comparateur (10) possédant une sortie (Vo) ainsi que des entrées non inverseuse (14) et inverseuse (12) destinées à recevoir un premier signal d~entrée (Vi(P)) représentant la charge appliquée au convertisseur et un deuxième signal d~entrée (Vref(T°)) représentant la température du convertisseur. Le comparateur (10) possède une configuration à bascule de Schmitt non inverseuse présentant une caractéristique entrée-sortie à hystérésis. La sortie (Vo) est donc commutée d~une première valeur (Vo1) à une deuxième valeur (Voh) de manière à couper le convertisseur électronique lorsque le premier signal d~entrée (Vi(P)) dépasse une première valeur seuil (VT1). La sortie (Vo) est recommutée de la deuxième valeur (Voh) à la première valeur (Vo1) pour remettre en marche le convertisseur électronique lorsque le premier signal d~entrée (Vi(P)) passe en dessous d~une deuxième valeur seuil (VT2). La deuxième valeur seuil (VT2) est inférieure à la première valeur seuil (VT1), et les deux valeurs seuils (VT1, VT2) sont fonction du signal (Vref(T°)) représentant la température du convertisseur. Le convertisseur est donc protégé des intensités de courant et des températures excessives.
