L'invention porte sur une synthèse régiosélective catalysée par un métal de benzimidazoles et d'azabenzimidazoles. L'invention concerne un procédé de synthèse régiosélective de composés de la formule I, dans laquelle R1; R2; R3; R4; J1; J2; J3; J4 et G sont tels que spécifiés dans les revendications. L'invention se rapporte à un procédé régiosélectif direct catalysé par un métal, p.ex. le palladium ou le cuivre, qui permet de préparer une large variété de benzimidazoles ou azabenzimidazoles multifonctionnels asymétriques N-substitués de la formule I à partir de 2-halo-nitroarènes et d'amides N-substitués, qui sont destinés à la production de produits pharmaceutiques, d'agents diagnostiques, de cristaux liquides, de polymères, d'herbicides, de fongicides, de nématicides, de parasiticides, d'insecticides, d'acaricides et d'arthropodicides.
