A removable safety attachment to be used for a windshield removal tool known to the automotive glass industry as the cold knife. This safety device having a slot in its centre enabling it to be slid onto the L shaped blade of the said knife. The attachment is of sufficient size, thickness and of appropriate shape to protect the hand or fingers of the glass technician as the hand is used to grip the handle of the cold knife in a close fisted presentation. During the cutting operation of removing the windshield, the operator is subjected to the risk of cuts, scrapes and lacerations to the palm of the hand and fingers, as a result of encountering broken glass, retainer clips and also from the jagged edges of the broken cold knife blade, said blade is subject to mechanical failure.
Accessoire de sécurité amovible à utiliser avec un outil servant à enlever un pare-brise et connu dans l'industrie du vitrage d'automobile sous le nom de couteau à froid. Cet accessoire a une fente en son centre qui permet de l'enfiler sur la lame en L dudit couteau. Il a la taille, l'épaisseur et la forme voulues pour protéger la main et les doigts du technicien en vitrage quand celui-ci agrippe la poignée du couteau à froid, le poing serré. Durant l'opération de coupe visant à enlever le pare-brise, le technicien est exposé à des risques de coupures, éraflures et lacérations à la paume de la main et aux doigts à cause de la présence de verre brisé, de pinces de retenue et aussi à cause des bords ébréchés de la lame brisée du couteau à froid, ladite lame étant sujette aux défaillances mécaniques.
