A system for determining the spatial position of a target having an active target adapted to emit energy in response to an active signal and a passive target adapted to reflect energy impinging upon such passive target from an active energy source. A common energy detector is provided for detecting both the energy emitted by the active target and the energy reflected by the passive target. A common processor is provided for determining the spatial positions of both the passive and active targets in response to the energy detected by the common detector. During a sensor cycle the spatial position of the active target is determined and during a sensor cycle the position of the passive target is determined. The sensor cycles may be interspersed or may be the same cycle to enable simultaneous determination of both the active target and the passive target during a single sensor cycle. The system also enables the determination of the spatial position and angular orientation of both a rigid object having affixed thereto active targets and/or another rigid object having affixed thereto passive targets and/or an object having affixed thereto both an active and passive targets.
L'invention concerne un système de détermination de la position dans l'espace d'une cible, qui présente une cible active adaptée pour émettre de l'énergie en réaction à un signal actif et une cible passive adaptée pour renvoyer de l'énergie heurtant cette cible passive et provenant d'une source d'énergie active. Un détecteur commun d'énergie permet de détecter l'énergie émise par la cible active et l'énergie renvoyée par la cible passive. Un processeur commun permet de déterminer les positions dans l'espace des cibles active et passive en réaction à l'énergie détectée par le détecteur commun. La détermination de la position dans l'espace de la cible active se fait pendant un cycle de détection différent de celui permettant de détecter la position dans l'espace de la cible passive, lesquels cycles peuvent être discontinus. Toutefois, ils peuvent être confondus de manière à assurer la détermination simultanée des cibles active et passive pendant un cycle unique de détection. Le système permet aussi la détermination de la position dans l'espace et de l'orientation angulaire d'un objet rigide sur lequel sont fixées des cibles actives et/ou un autre objet rigide sur lequel sont fixées des cibles passives et/ou un objet sur lequel sont fixées des cibles actives et passives.
