A cigarette self-preparation system employs a conventional factory-made filter-tipped cigarette which has a plurality of perforations through an outer surface, thereby rendering the cigarette inherently unsmokable in that form. The system further includes blocking means to close off the perforations and rendering the cigarette then smokable.
