A vibration isolator assembly, such as an isolator bushing or cradle mount, includes a housing and an isolator connected to the housing. A shaft assembly includes first and second mating components, the first component being connected to the elastomer and having a cavity of a first dimension for receiving the second component having a different, second dimension therein. The differing dimensions alter the stress characteristics of the vibration isolator assembly. In the preferred arrangement, the shaft assembly includes a first component comprising first and second portions, a thin layer of elastomer interposed between the first and second components and a second component which is inserted between the portions to relieve tensile stress in the isolator and, if desired, to impart a compressive stress in the isolator. The thin layer of elastomer permits the first components to be made more economically. The first component of the shaft assembly is made at a lower dimensional tolerance and subsequently produced to a higher dimensional tolerance by molding the thin layer of elastomer to a precision tolerance.
La présente invention a trait à un ensemble d'isolation, tel qu'une douille d'isolation ou montage de type berceau, comportant un boîtier et un isolateur relié au boîtier. Un ensemble d'arbre comprend des premier et deuxième composants de couplage, le premier composant étant relié à l'élastomère et présentant une cavité d'une première dimension pour la réception du deuxième composant présentant une deuxième dimension différente. Les dimensions différentes modifient les caractéristiques de contraintes de l'ensemble d'isolation de vibrations. Dans un agencement préféré, l'ensemble d'arbre comprend un premier composant comportant des première et deuxième portions, une mince couche d'élastomère étant interposée entre les deux portions pour atténuer la contrainte de traction dans l'isolateur, et au choix, pour impartir une contrainte de compression dans l'isolateur. La mince couche d'élastomère permet une fabrication plus économique des premiers composants. Le premier composant de l'ensemble d'arbre est fabriqué à une tolérance dimensionnelle inférieure et ultérieurement produit à une tolérance dimensionnelle supérieure par moulage de la couche mince d'élastomère à une tolérance de précision.
