An acid-resistant glass article is provided comprising: about 25-45 wt.% SiO2; about 20-35 wt.% TiO2; less than about 5 wt.% B2O3; about 15-40 wt.% of an alkaline earth modifier selected from the group consisting of B aO, S rO, and mixtures thereof, and no greater than about 25 wt.% of an alkali-metal oxide selected from the group consisting of Na2O, K2O, and mixtures thereof. The glass article is preferably in the form of a microsphere that is adapted for use as a retroreflective element in pavement markings.

La présente invention décrit un article en verre résistant à l'acide et qui comprend en poids: environ 25 à 45 % de SiO2; environ 20 à 35 % de TiO2; moins de 5 % de B2O3; environ 15 à 40 % d'un modificateur alcalino-terreux choisi dans le groupe comprenant BaO, SrO et leurs mélanges; et pas plus de 25 % d'un oxyde de métal alcalin choisi dans le groupe comprenant Na2O, K2O et leurs mélanges. De préférence, l'article en verre se présente sous la forme d'une microsphère conçue pour être utilisée comme élément réfléchissant dans des marquages au sol pour chaussées.
