The present invention is for a boat having a decking or a cabin or for a decking to be installed on existing boats, wherein the decking or cabin include a hatch that can move from a first positron to as second position. In the first position the movable decking simply assists in defining the decking or cabin, whilst in the second position the decking has been lifted upwardly from the boat allowing use by a person to that section of the boat previously covered by the decking. Generally the decking will be moved upwardly to a height sufficient to allow a normal person movement thought the boat.
