2057024 9013608 PCTABS00002 The description relates to agents which affect rheology, especially for the controlled viscosity increase in non-aqueous fluid phases based on hydrophobic oil-dispersable mixed hydroxide coumpounds with an inorganic basic structure, in which said agents are formed at least partly from inorganic stratified compounds with a positive stratum charge based on 2-dimensional inorganic polycations (polycationic stratified compounds) and mono and/or polybasic acid anions with a marked oleophilic character. In addition, the invention concerns methods for the production of such agents. In a further embodiment, the use of these agents in non-aqueous fluid phases, especially as viscosity-increasing gel formers in W/O invert drilling fluids with a closed oil phase, and the composition of such drilling fluids is described.
