ABSTRACT USE OF PIPERIDINE CARBOXAMIDES (?)-1-[4-[Ethyl[2-(4-methoxyphenyl)-1-methylethyl]- amino]-1-oxobutyl]-N,N-dimethyl-4-piperidine carboxamide and (+)-1-[4-[ethyl[2-(4-methoxyphenyl)-1-methylethyl]- amino]-1-oxobutyl]-N,N-dimethyl-4-piperidine carboxamide, and the physiologically acceptable acid addition salts thereof, are suitable for treating diseases of the central nervous system (e.g. Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease). The compounds also exhibit antiemetic properties and in view of their favourable effects on cerebral blood flow they are suitable for use in geriatric medicine and in cases of migraine.
