A packaged air conditioner or heat pump unit is provided with an elongated removable drain pan having an inner longitudinal portion that underlies and receives condensate falling from the portion of the unit's indoor coil positioned within the conditioned air flow through the unit. An outer longitudinal portion of the drain pan underlies tubing portion return bends of the coil positioned outside of the conditioned air flow and separated from the inner longitudinal pan portion by a vertical dividing wall having a small condensate transfer hole therein. During cooling operation of the unit, the unit blower creates a negative pressure inwardly adjacent the hole which draws return bend condensation from the outer longitudinal pan portion into the inner longitudinal pan portion for drainage outwardly therefrom , with the condensate received from the balance of the coil, via a drain line connected to the pan.

Le bac d'égouttement comprend une partie longitudinale intérieure qui reçoit le condensat qui tombe de la partie de l'échangeur intérieur se trouvant dans le flux d'air conditionné qui passe dans le conditionneur ou la pompe. Une partie longitudinale extérieure du bac d'égouttement se trouve sous les coudes doubles du serpentin se trouvant à l'extérieur du flux d'air conditionné. Cette partie longitudinale extérieure est séparée de la partie longitudinale intérieure du bac par une paroi de séparation verticale percée d'un petit trou pour le transfert du condensat. Pendant le refroidissement du conditionneur ou de la pompe, leur ventilateur crée une pression négative à l'intérieur, à côté du trou, ce qui permet au condensat des coudes doubles de passer, à travers le trou, de la partie longitudinale extérieure à la partie longitudinale intérieure du bac, d'où il est évacué, avec le condensat provenant du reste du serpentin, par une conduite d'évacuation reliée au bac.
