There are disclosed antioxidant additives for lubricating oils which exhibit reduced phosphorus volatility, the additives being sodium, potassium, lithium or oil soluble amine salts of a dialkyldithiophosphoric acid prepared by reacting P2S5 with a mixture of alcohols consisting of (a) a polyol of the formula R(OH)n where R is a C2-C20 hydrocarbyl group and n is 2-10 and (b) an aliphatic monohydric alcohol having 3-18 carbon atoms, the mixture containing relative amounts of polyol and monohydric alcohol such that 50 mole % of the total OH groups are OH groups of the polyol.
L'invention concerne des additifs antioxydants destinés à des huiles lubrifiantes dont le phosphore présente une volatilité réduite. Ces additifs sont du sodium, du potassium, du lithium ou des sels d'un acide dialkyldithiophosphorique aminés et solubles dans l'huile. On prépare ces sels en faisant réagir du P¿2?S¿2? avec un mélange d'alcools constitués (a) d'un polyol représenté par la formule R(OH)¿n? dans laquelle R représente un groupe hydrocarbyle C¿2?-C¿20? et n est compris entre 2 et 10 et (b) d'un alcool monohydrique aliphatique comportant de 3 à 18 atomes de carbone. Ce mélange contient des quantités relatives de polyol et d'alcool monohydrique. Par exemple, 50 % en moles de tous les groupes OH sont des groupes OH du polyol.
