An optical PON network comprises a central office which generates N DPSK modulated optical signals, where N is an integer greater than 1, an optical coupling which connects the N signals to at least one optical fibre, a passive distribution node located remotely from the central office which has at least one input port that is coupled to the fibre and a plurality of output ports, the node being arranged to transmit a first wavelength of the N signals to at least one of its output ports, and at least one optical network unit connected through a respective optical fibre to the first output port of the passive distribution node. The passive distribution node comprises an arrayed waveguide grating which provides a passive optical connection between its input port and the first output port and which for that connection functions as a bandpass filter having a profile and bandwidth selected such that the DPSK optical signal passed to the input node is converted to an intensity modulated signal at the output port.

L'invention concerne un réseau optique passif (PON) qui comporte un central téléphonique qui génère N signaux optiques modulés par déplacement de phase à détection différentielle (DPSK), où N est un entier supérieur à 1, un couplage optique qui connecte les N signaux à au moins une fibre optique, un nAEud de distribution passif situé à distance du central téléphonique qui a au moins un port d'entrée qui est couplé à la fibre et une pluralité de ports de sortie, le nAEud étant agencé pour transmettre une première longueur d'onde des N signaux à au moins l'un de ses ports de sortie, et au moins une unité de réseau optique connectée par une fibre optique respective au premier port de sortie du nAEud de distribution passif. Le nAEud de distribution passif comporte un réseau sélectif planaire qui fournit une connexion optique passive entre son port d'entrée et le premier port de sortie et qui, pour cette connexion, fonctionne comme un filtre passe-bande ayant un profil et une bande passante sélectionnés de telle sorte que le signal optique DPSK passé au nAEud d'entrée est converti en un signal modulé en intensité au niveau du port de sortie.
