An anti-tip linkage mechanism (Figs. 2-12) for vertical file cabinets (1) of the type having drawers (5A, 5B, 5C) and/or pivotal front panels (14) includes molded polymeric cam follower housings (20) that snap-fit onto each of the slide channels (12) for the drawers (5A, 5B, 5C) or panels (14) and non- circular connecting rods (30) attached to cam actuators (26) that enable interaction of the anti-tip mechanisms incorporated with each slide channel. Lock actuated auxiliary cam mechanisms and panel locking assemblies (Figs. 13- 16) controllable by a single cabinet lock (160) are connected with a cabinet lock by linkage bars or cables (170, 172).
