A mold for injection molding of a plastic bottle cap (10) has a cavity (36) which defines the outside slope of the top and skirt of the cap. A core (41) and a core insert (42) fixed to the top of the core define the inside of the cap and constitute a single, non-moving part. A tapered stripper ring (43) below the cavity engages the base of the cap skirt (13). After the cap has been injected through a hot tip (37) in the cavity, the cavity is retracted. The stripper ring is then elevated relative to the core by means of ejector pins (44). As this is proceeding, air is released under the top of the cap to break a vacuum tending to hold the cap on the cap insert. The cap is thus ejected from the mold. A reduced cycle time is achieved. The wall thickness of the cap may be reduced, thus reducing material cost.

L'invention concerne un moule pour le moulage par injection d'un bouchon de bouteille en plastique (10), qui comporte une cavité (36) définissant la pente externe du sommet et du pourtour du bouchon. Un noyau (41) et une pièce rapportée à ce noyau (42) fixée au sommet dudit noyau définissent l'intérieur du bouchon et constituent une partie unique non mobile. Un anneau d'arrachage conique (43) placé sous la cavité est rattaché à la base du pourtour du bouchon (13). Une fois le bouchon injecté par une buse surchauffée (37) dans la cavité, celle-ci est rétractée. L'anneau est ensuite élevé par rapport au noyau du bouchon au moyen de tiges d'éjection (44). A mesure que se déroule le processus, de l'air est libéré sous le sommet du bouchon pour éliminer un vide qui tend à tenir le bouchon sur la pièce rapportée susmentionnée. Ainsi, le bouchon est éjecté du moule, et la durée du cycle est réduite. L'épaisseur de la paroi du bouchon peut être réduite, ce qui permet d'abaisser le coût en matériau.
