An apparatus for erecting folded carton blanks (140) has a picking assembly (105) for grasping a carton blank from a magazine (60). The picking assembly (105) is disposed for rotational movement from a first position proximate the magazine to a second position proximate an abutment (152) that engages a corner of the carton blank. A gate (195) disposed for rotational movement is driven in a timed relation with the picking assembly (105). As the picking assembly moves from its first to its second position, the gate (195) applies a breaking pressure which facilitates air flow through the interior of the carton blank. At or immediately prior to the time that the corner of the carton blank engages the abutment, the gate applies an erecting force that facilitates opening of the carton blank to its fully erected state.
Un appareil permettant de déployer des flans de carton pliés (140) comporte un ensemble de préhension (105) servant à saisir un flan de carton dans un magasin (60). L'ensemble de préhension (105) est disposé de façon à effectuer une rotation entre une première position proche du magasin, et une seconde position proche d'une butée (152) qui est en contact avec un angle du flan. Une barrière (195) montée rotative est entraînée de manière synchronisée par rapport à l'ensemble de préhension (105). Tandis que ce dernier passe de la première à la seconde position, la barrière (195) applique une pression de rupture qui favorise l'écoulement d'air à l'intérieur du flan de carton. Immédiatement avant que l'angle du flan n'entre en contact avec la butée, ou à l'instant même de ce contact, la barrière applique une force de déploiement qui facilite l'ouverture du flan afin que celui-ci soit entièrement déployé.
