A glass preform (30) for making optical waveguides has surface impurities such as silicon carbide or silicon nitride. The preform is drawn in a furnace (12) that is supplied with oxygen via a conduit (40). The oxygen causes the impurities to oxidize and not effect the strength of the fiber.
Cette invention concerne une préforme en verre (30), conçue pour la fabrication de guides d'ondes optiques, qui comporte des impuretés de surface telles que du carbure de silicium ou du nitrure de silicium. La préforme est étirée dans un four (12) qui est alimenté en oxygène par l'intermédiaire d'un conduit (40). L'oxygène provoque l'oxydation des impuretés et améliore de ce fait la résistance de la fibre.
