An apparatus for coating an optical fiber or a bundle of optical fibers with resin comprises a resin container, resin coater for coating an optical fiber or a bundle of optical fibers with the resin supplied from the resin container, and filter apparatus disposed between the resin container and the resin coater for filtering the resin particles passing therethrough. The filter apparatus comprises a plurality of resin-passing holes having an average diameter not larger than 100 µm, preferably not larger than 2 µm.
