ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention relates to an applicator for the coating of webs, in particular of paper of paper or cardboard, having a belt or hose 2 which is guided around a support member 3 and a drive roller 4, and having a web-guiding backing roll 5, a coating nip 7 being formed between backing roll 5 and hose 2 for the application of the coating composition to the web. The invention is characterized by the fact that the support member 3 is a roller 6 of relatively small diameter as compared with the guide roller 4, and at least one additional roller 9, 9', 10 by which the support roller 6 is supported.
