2066680 9104817 PCTABS00003 Apparatus for mounting a notching blade assembly (56) specifically for use in a double-cut die set (10) of the type used to cut tubing (34) continuously emanating from the tube mill. The present invention is directed toward the notching blade assembly (56) used in conjunction with the vertical guillotine blade (52) of the cut-off die set (10) to notch the upper surface of the tubing (34) prior to the shearing cut. The subject device includes a clamp plate (80) secured to the carriage (70) of the double-cut die set (10), a key-shaped transverse bore (80c, 72) extending through the clamp plate (80) and carriage body (70) so that the notching blade (94) having a corresponding key-shaped bore (94) can be placed between the clamp plate (80) and carriage (70), a locking stud (84) having a locking pin (86) on one end thereof is inserted through the key-shaped transverse bore (80c) and rotated away from the channel groove portion (80F) of the keyhole-shaped bore (80c) to clamp the notching blade (94) between the clamp plate (80) and carriage assembly (70).
