ABSTRACT The apparatus comprises a board 10 having a plurality of playing areas forming a path along which playing pieces can be moved. The playing areas include property areas 11, stock areas 12, foreign currency areas 14, commodity (e.g. gold) areas 13 and sell areas 15. The apparatus also includes a set of property cards 19, a set of stock cards 20, a set of foreign currency cards 22, a set of commodity (e.g. gold) cards 21 and a set of sell cards 23. Rules allow a player to acquire an asset if a playing piece lands on one of the areas 11, 12, 13, 14, the asset which the player may acquire and the purchase price thereof being determined by selecting a card 19, 20, 21, 22 according to whether the playing piece lands on an area 11, 12, 13, 14, respectively. Rules also require a player to select a sell card 23 if the playing piece lands on a sell area 15 and to sell all assets of a particular type (e.g. all property assets) if according to the sell card that particular type of asset has made a loss. If the type of asset has made a gain the player may opt to sell or not.
