ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An apparatus is disclosed for relieving the pressure generated by an explosion from lines through which substances that constitute an explosive hazard flow, the supply line that comes from the site of the explosion opening into a chamber, and an outgoing line being connected to the chamber opposite the supply line. In addition the chamber incorporates at least one safety door, cover plate or the like that opens to the atmosphere when subjected to the pressure generated by an explosion. The intervening space between the chamber and the incoming line can be closed off by means of a quick-acting closing device that consists either of a hydraulically or pneumatically operated annular diaphragm or of a curtain or cloud of finely divided extinguishing agent.
