Abstract of the Disclosure: A deodorant comprising as essential components [I] a water-soluble organic polymer having a number aver- age molecular weight of at least 100,000 and containing at least one group selected from the class consisting of a carboxyl group and its ammonium salt, ammonium/alkali metal mixed salts and alkanolamine salts; sulfoalkyl groups, a sulfonic acid group, a phosphoric acid group, and a phosphonic acid group and their alkali metal salts, ammonium salts, alkanolamine salts and alkali metal/ ammonium/alkanolamine mixed salts; and cationic groups, and/or a quarternary ammonium compound of the polymer, and (II) an aqueous medium.
