The present invention provides a method and system for arbitrating access to a shared disk controller resource. In one embodiment, an access cycle with a first cycle duration is provided. A first amount of time is allocated to a first accessing unit. The said shared controller resource is accessed using the first unit for a first duration, where the first duration being no greater than the first amount of time. A second amount of time and an unused amount of the first amount of time is allocated to a second accessing unit.

L'invention concerne un procédé et un système d'arbitrage de l'accès à une ressource partagée de contrôleur de disque dur. Selon un mode de réalisation, l'invention a trait à un cycle d'accès doté d'une première durée de cycle. Le système attribue une première quantité de temps à une première unité d'accès. Ladite ressource partagée de contrôleur est accédée au moyen de la première unité pour une première durée, cette dernière n'étant pas plus importante que la première quantité de temps. Une seconde quantité de temps et une quantité non utilisée de la première quantité de temps sont attribuées à la seconde unité d'accès.
