An areal composite strip material for shoe uppers has an uncemented, thermofixed needle punched nonwoven consisting of synthetic fibers. The nonwoven is to be positioned at the inner side of a shoe upper. A rubber layer is connected by vulcanization to the needle punched nonwoven to form the composite strip material. The rubber layer is to be positioned at the outer side of the shoe upper. The rubber layer consists of a rubber material selected from the group consisting of EPDM, CSM, CR, EVA, and MVQ.
