An arm structure for anthropomorphic robots minimizes the occurrence of a singularity state of a shoulder joint assembly when the arm of the anthropomorphic robot is working normally thereby allowing the arm to operate smoothly. The position and posture of first through third joints (11), (13), (15) of a shoulder joint assembly (5) and the position of an elbow joint assembly (6) with respect to the third joint (15) are established such that the elbow joint assembly (6) is located above a horizontal plane lying through the point of intersection of the axes (10), (12), (14) of the first through third joints (11), (13), (15), when the shoulder joint assembly (5) is operated into a singularity state wherein the first axis (10) of the first joint (11) and the third axis (14) of the third joint (15) are aligned with each other and the elbow joint assembly (6) is positioned laterally of a torso (1).

Cette invention concerne une structure de bras destinée à des robots de travail à morphologie de type humain, qui est capable dans la plus grande mesure possible d'éliminer l'apparition d'une condition de point singulier d'une articulation de l'épaule pendant son fonctionnement régulier et d'assurer un mouvement continu du bras, dans lequel les positions et les attitudes des première aux troisième articulations (11,13,15) d'une unité (5) d'articulation de l'épaule et une position d'une articulation (6) du coude par rapport à la troisième articulation (15) sont établies de sorte que l'articulation (6) du coude se situe au-dessus d'un plan horizontal (S) traversant une intersection d'axes (10,12,14) des première aux troisième articulations (11,13,15) de l'unité (5) d'articulation de l'épaule lorsque cette dernière (5) est déplacée dans une condition singulière dans laquelle le premier axe (10) de la première articulation (11) constituant l'unité (5) d'articulation de l'épaule et le troisième axe (14) de la troisième articulation (15) deviennent coaxiaux, alors que l'articulation (6) du coude est positionnée du côté d'un tronc (1).
