-8- ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A thermoplastic container having an upper, hollow body portion and a base is provided with a decorative location ring adjoining the juncture of the body portion and the base. The process of manufacture includes establishing a predetermined thermal gradient, by way of interrupting the die casting of the container prior to cooling to the point of rigidity, and applying axial compressive force sufficient to produce outward local deformation at a desired location, to form the location ring.
