An articulated milling arm for a dental milling instrument comprises a middle portion (11) which is connected in horizontally swivelling manner on the one hand to a first vertical articular axis (10) which is fixed with respect to the frame and on the other hand to a second vertical articular axis (12). The second articular axis (12) is rigidly connected to a support (13) for a milling unit. A common braking plate (29) that is capable of being pressurized pneumatically or hydraulically via a diaphragm (30) is capable of being pressed against braking surfaces (27, 28) of the two articular axes (10, 12) in order to fix the articulated milling arm horizontally.
