The present invention pertains to electric capacitors having a large capacity and used for accumulating electric energy, and essentially relates to asymmetric electrochemical capacitors. The asymmetric electrochemical capacitor of the present invention has a substantially increased specific energy as well as an extended service life. To this end, the asymmetric electrochemical capacitor comprises a body (5), at least one installed pair of electrodes comprising a first (1) and a second (2) electrode, an electrolyte (3) arranged between said electrodes, a collector and a separator (4). The absolute capacities of the electrodes are different, i.e. the first electrode has a higher absolute capacity than the second one. One of the electrodes is made of a material allowing for the energy build-up during a Faraday process, while the other electrode is made of a material allowing for the energy build- up in a dual electric layer.

Cette invention se rapporte aux condensateurs électriques de grande capacité servant à accumuler de l'énergie électrique, et concerne notamment des condensateurs électrochimiques asymétriques. Ce condensateur électrochimique asymétrique possède une énergie spécifique sensiblement accrue ainsi qu'une plus longue durée de vie. A cette fin, le condensateur électrochimique asymétrique comprend un corps (5), au moins une paire d'électrodes installée comprenant une première (1) et une seconde (2) électrodes, un électrolyte (3) disposé entre ces dernières, un collecteur et un séparateur (4). Les capacités absolues des électrodes sont différentes, la capacité absolue de la première électrode étant supérieure à celle de la seconde électrode. L'une des électrodes se compose d'un matériau permettant d'accumuler de l'énergie au cours d'un processus de Faraday, tandis que l'autre est faite d'un matériau permettant d'accumuler de l'énergie dans une couche électrique double.
