ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An automotive constant speed cruise control system for a vehicle comprises an automatic speed change controller for automatically changing speed in a transmission depending on the throttle valve opening and vehicle speed, a constant speed controller having a constant speed travelling control function for maintaining a target vehicle cruising speed by controlling on the basis or duty ratio of the throttle valve opening according to vehicle speed also having a transmission limiting function for sending out a signal to the automatic speed change controller to prohibiting selection of the maximum speed in the transmission for a specified time when the vehicle speed falls. The transmission limiting function is capable of being started from outside by inputting a speed change signal indicating that the transmission is shifted down from a maximum speed to the controller for constant speed traveling.
