ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An axially-wound electrical capacitor is composed of at least one capacitor winding arranged on a core tube. A respective metallic lead through contact element is arranged at each of the two opposite end faces and is connected to a respective schoopage layer carried on the respective end face, the contact element being centered in the core tube. A plastic envelope covers the capacitor up to the lead-through regions for the external connections.
