This invention provides estrogenic agents having formula (I) wherein A and B are each, independently, (a), (b), (c), or (d), R is SO3-X+; X+ is alkali metal, alkaline earth metal, ammonium, alkylammonium containing 1-6 carbon atoms, dialkylammonium containing 1-6 carbon atoms in each alkyl group, trialkylammonium containing 1-6 carbon atoms in each alkyl group or tetraalkylammonium containing 1-6 carbon atoms in each alkyl group; with the proviso that at least one of A or B is (b) or (d).
