A back belt (10) comprising a continuous, non-baffled, pressurizable air chamber (14) having a top edge, a bottom edge, and a pair of opposing ends defining the periphery thereof; cushioning rims (16) along the top and bottom edges of the air cham- ber (14); symmetrical contouring notches (18) along the top and bottom edges of the air chamber (14) and along the cushioning rims (16); belt connected to the ends of the air chamber; valve means (11) on the air chamber and supportive wall means overlay- ing the air chamber, and connected to the belt and to the air chamber at the ends of the air chamber; and a novel connector (30) permanently couples the materials from which the air chamber and belt straps (20) for the air chamber are constructed, providing a stability to the joinder of these materials not obtainable by known sewing means.
