The invention relates to composite material which consists of grains of a non- metal inorganic material and plastic particles. The composite material is particularly suitable as a support material for bacteria for use in purification plants. Said composite material is characterised in that bacteria can settle on a large surface thereof, and that the density thereof makes it suspendable in the medium present in the purification plant. Another advantage of the inventive composite material is that adhesive sludge and saturated bacteria can arise from the surface thereof due to the special surface structure thereof, thus enabling the material to regenerate.
L'invention concerne un matériau composite constitué de grains d'un matériau inorganique non métallique et de particules de matières plastiques. Ce matériau composite est particulièrement approprié comme matériau de support de bactéries destiné à être utilisé dans des stations d'épuration. Il est caractérisé par une grande surface appropriée pour la colonisation de bactéries et par une densité qui lui permet de flotter dans le milieu présent dans les stations d'épuration. Un autre avantage du matériau composite selon l'invention réside dans le fait que la boue adhérant à la surface et les bactéries saturées peuvent se détacher de la surface en raison de la structure superficielle particulière du matériau composite, ce qui permet une régénération de ce dernier.
