ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A battery powered message display screen suitable for use in high ambient light or night time environments. The manufacturing process comprises: a battery power supply, protective modular face plate housing, a Fiber optic light distribution system; a light gate/control unit; a lighting source and a cooling fan. The Fiber Optics can be gated by a colour or monochromatic film slide, an a.c. gas plasma screen or a liquid crystal shutter. This device overcomes many of the inherant problems associated with battery powered message display screens used in high ambient light or night time environments because it has higher resolution, colour capability and a very bright message read-out.
