Prior to the digestion of bauxite (which contains silica) in a digestion solution such as caustic soda for the production of aluminium oxide, the bauxite is mechanically activated to induce a mechanochemical reaction in the presence of a reagent such as lime. At least a portion of the silica is rendered insoluble and unreactive to the formation of sodium-aluminium- silicate desilication product (DSP) during subsequent digestion of the bauxite in the digestion solution.
Avant la digestion de la bauxite (qui contient de la silice) par une solution de digestion telle qu'une soude caustique, pour produire de l'oxyde d'aluminium, la bauxite est activée mécaniquement pour induire une réaction chimico-mécanique en présence d'un réactif tel que la chaux. Au moins une partie de la silice est rendue insoluble et non disposible pour la formation d'un produit de désilicification (silicate de sodium et d'aluminium) durant l'opération de digestion subséquente de la bauxite, dans la solution de digestion.
